FAQ

Buyer questions, answered.

Short answers to what process engineers, quality engineers and buyers ask us — each linked to the page with the detail. Commercial terms are confirmed in each quotation.

Understanding the process

Q01What does plasma cleaning remove before semiconductor packaging?

Surface contamination on pads, lead fingers and substrates that would weaken wire bonds or the adhesion of mold compound. Plasma removes it and activates the surface. Semiconductor packaging

Q02RF or microwave — which suits my substrate?

Both clean and activate. Awing's microwave systems have no internal electrode in the chamber, which suits ESD-sensitive parts; RF covers the widest range of formats. We recommend the source after reviewing your parts. RF vs Microwave

Q03How is cleaning effectiveness measured?

With water contact angle, ball shear and stitch pull strength, and Cu residue after ball shear — each against a specification. Test methods

Q04When should I use a batch chamber instead of an in-line cleaner?

In-line for strips on a packaging line with hands-off loading; a chamber for trays, fixtures, mixed parts and larger pieces. Inline vs Chamber

Choosing a system

Q05What are the RF power, chamber size and gases of AW-ZP?

13.56 MHz RF, 0–600 W / 1000 W with automatic impedance matching; aluminum reaction chamber L 550 × W 320 × H 50 mm (ZP04B) or L 450 × W 350 × H 50 mm (ZP04A); O2 / Ar / H2 through mass-flow controllers, 0–200 mL/min. AW-ZP

Q06AW-ZP or AW-P — what is the difference?

AW-ZP cleans lead-frame strips in line with automatic loading; AW-P treats trays and fixtures in batches in a 500 × 500 × 400 mm (P100) or 540 × 530 × 600 mm (P170) chamber. Full comparison

Q07How do AW-ZMP and AW-MP differ?

Both are 2.45 GHz microwave systems with no internal electrode. AW-ZMP04 cleans strips in line (L 150–260 × W 30–80 mm); AW-MP60 treats batches in a 400 × 400 × 400 mm chamber with a rotating tray. AW-ZMP · AW-MP

Q08Is there a plasma descum solution for single wafers?

Yes — the AW-QP600 strips photoresist and descums 4-, 6- and 8-inch wafers. AW-QP

Q09Can the machine handle my part size and takt time?

Compare your part with the strip and chamber sizes on each product page, then send us the dimensions and target UPH — we confirm the fit before quoting.

About Awing

Q10Are you the manufacturer?

Yes. Wuxi Awing Technology Co., Ltd. develops and manufactures its plasma cleaning systems in Wuxi, Jiangsu, China. About Awing

Q11Which certifications does Awing hold?

ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems, CE for the AW-ZP in-line series and after-sales service certification, among others — each listed with its validity. Certifications

Q12Can you show documented applications?

Yes. Three anonymized case studies from customer lines — IGBT module wire-bond preparation, lead-frame cleaning and LED packaging — with acceptance criteria and measured results, including six weeks of production data for the IGBT line. Case studies

Quotation and delivery

Q13What do you need for a quotation?

Package or part type, strip or part dimensions, the contamination or process step, target throughput (UPH), how the system joins your line, and the installation site. Quotation inquiry

Q14Which Incoterms, payment terms and lead times apply?

They depend on the configuration and the destination, and are stated in each quotation.

Q15Can the system connect to our line, and can it be customized?

In-line and continuous systems load same-side or left-in / right-out and connect to MES through an optional industrial PC. Awing designs chambers and configurations to customer requirements.

Q16What makes up the operating cost?

Process gases, electricity, vacuum pump maintenance and wear parts. Ask us for the figures for your configuration.

Q17Who handles installation, training and warranty?

The scope is agreed in the contract for each project. After-sales

After-sales

Q18How do we order spare parts?

Send the model, serial number and a description or photo of the part. Spare parts

Q19Is remote troubleshooting available?

Contact us with your location and the fault; we confirm the support available for your region.
